Well-being and Leisure
Israel is a tiny country with limited green spaces: 60% is desert and the center plain is a huge urban sprawl. Therefore, Israel’s forests and parks are one of the country’s most precious assets. Every year, they attract more than 2 million visitors, who come to spend time in nature and benefit from the thousands of kilometers of hiking and biking trails and the many recreation sites, scenic lookouts, and exercise parks that KKL-JNF has built over the years.
KKL-JNF’s many visitors centers, strategically located close to forests and natural reserves, bird migration routes, historical attractions, and more, inspire a strong connection to the natural world while providing many hours of educational fun activities for people of all ages. Research has shown that forest bathing, exercising outdoors and spending time in nature in general reduce stress levels, strengthen immune and cardiovascular systems, and boost energy, creativity and cognitive functions.
To promote well-being and encourage a healthier lifestyle among residents of cities and towns, KKl-JNF plants thousands of trees every year and builds parks, picnic areas, and walking and cycling trails. We also create therapeutic green environments in medical centers across the country.
